In order to proceed after a jam~packed year I typically need to reflect on the past and finish the chapter before I can really move forward. In other words, I'm procrastinating and lingering in the present state before I commit to any goals or plans for the current year.
For now I'm taking life day by day and not stressing about the little things {laundry is piling up, my half empty rooms remain half empty, my plaster table project patiently awaits, and I'm OK with all of it}.
I have ice skating lessons, softball practice and play dates with 1st graders on the brain~
I'm reminiscing about the good times with close friends and trying to be the best friend I can to those who need me~
I've been putting a lot of time and energy into this big run which takes place in just 2 weeks! I had an incredible 12 mile run last Saturday and feel like I've had a major breakthrough with my running {it's taken a whopping 13 months for this breakthrough so perserverance is key I guess}.
I've spent time pondering how on earth gray hair can creep through my artificially colored hair so quickly that I'm forced to dabble in an over the counter root cover up plan to get me through the next 2 weeks~ ugh!
*Update~ I used this last night and it was easy and worked wonders- yippee*
I'm fighting the urge to wear some of my sequin pieces post-holiday season~
I'm trying to get my head around the Black Swan. It's one of those movies that has really stuck with me~
I'm wondering what adventures await my family in the coming year~
And what changes await my home~
So, while I'm riding the waves and moving with the currents of a changing year, I'm still physically here and am keeping up on the happenings in your worlds.
I've been drooling over Holly's dining room and desk area:
Tracey's French peat pots turned chandy decor have me inspired:
Mel's chippy white planters with fresh greens give me a new perspective:
Jen's DIY rosemary topiary tutorial has me almost ready to jump in feet first {that is, until she said it would take 2-3 years for these suckers to grow, hee hee!}:
And finally, Becky's cabbage table centerpiece sparks the creative fires within:
While you carry on with your goals and projects I'll be happily lurking out there in blogland, still soaking up the final waves of inspirational nourishment. ♥
Until tomorrow~
xoxo,
T

Oh dear! maybe you just need a little bit of rest before taking important decisions or important steps! Thank you for all these inspirations...I didn't know some of these blogs, so I'm out to have a look at them!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Mara
miss you T....
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year T! Can't wait to see where you go and what you do in 2011!
ReplyDeleteI love your drifting out to sea analogy!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you have a lot going on and a lot to think about...take it all in slowly and enjoy the moments! There seems to be so much inspiration out there in this new year, kindof overwhelming.
It will all fall into place eventually!
Enjoy your time!
Black Swan haunts me too! I hope Portman wins an oscar, she deserves it.
ReplyDeleteYes, been missing you...
ReplyDeleteI can learn so much from you!
To slow down, linger in the moment.
Get my mind wrapped around what it is exactly that I want from this year. Thanks for the inspiration, not to just decorate, but be a better person :)
Thanks so much for mentioning me, I'm honored!
Blessings to you
Becky C
Becky~ Thanks for the sweet feedback. It's not at all like me to slow down and linger anywhere so this is a welcomed change for me. I haven't had a shouting, hyperventilating morning trying to get out the door for school and work as of yet in 2011. ;)
ReplyDeleteHang in there T. I can offer help on one thing- hair color- Frederic Fekkai OTC at Ulta. It's AMAZING. Will cover everything. Not even kidding.
ReplyDeleteAwesome run time. You go girl!
Linger all you want! I'm glad to know I have a friend who's taking it slow. There are lots of hidden moments and blessings to be found in the slow, lingering seasons of life. Lets make the most of it...without feeling pressure to hurry up and get out of this sacred place.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs,
Linsey
I wore my grey
ReplyDeletecardigan with
silver sequins
on the front panels
over a fun tee to
my photography class,
yesterday. After
being ill over the
holidays, I'm not
ready to let it go,
either! And I think
if you keep the other
pieces very casual,
you can pull it off : )
I'm also kind of bobbing
along, since the year
ended with a whimper for
me, rather than a bang!
Have fun soaking it all
up....
xx Suzanne
I really enjoyed your post. I sometimes start the year out slowly - this year I had a little push - we are having our wood floors refinished - so I had to be organized. Hope your having a great day and that is some awesome running by you!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your drifting and enjoy yourself! I am so impressed by your running, that is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI will be patiently waiting your return. ENJOY your "time off!"
ReplyDeleteHugs!!! :)
I think that this is a better approach than just jumping into the same old resolutions that are never followed through.
ReplyDeletevisions unto myself
Fashionista's say that sequins can be worn anytime now & I say yeah! I admire how you are 'riding the wave' and how you are approaching this new year is perfect. Although I've been sick since the 28th of Dec. I feel like 2011 is going to be a good if not great year. Happy New Year Mrs. T and ice skating with little ones sounds fabulous.

ReplyDeleteHi T! Ill be running with you in just a few weeks! It's my first half and i must admit that i am SCARED OUT OF MY MIND!! my training was going so good until the holidays and some pretty bad knee pain got in the way. but im going for it anyway. Not out to set any records...jsut out to finish.
ReplyDeleteenjoy the slower pace. it's during the slow times that i think we can learn the most.

Take your time! :) I am trying to keep motivated too. Is it bad when you live out of laundry baskets for 2 weeks straight?

ReplyDeleteYay Jenny~ so glad to know you'll be out there running too. This is just my second half marathon and I'm also really scared, but I know we'll be just fine. You're right, it's not about the time it takes us to finish but the journey and experience prepping and just doing it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post T...so glad I'm not the only one taking it slow this year ;-) I needed the inpsiration to get me started running again. I am coaching 15 girls for "Girls on the Run" and plan on running a 1/2 marathon in the Fall...I think I better get running! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteyou are so sweet! congratulations on your running break through that is pretty darn amazing my friend! have a beautiful weekend! hugs, susan
